Mrs. Flynn, Principal

Mrs. Flynn was born and raised in Connecticut. She attended Catholic grammar school and college. She graduated from Providence College, Rhode Island with a degree in Psychology. After raising her four children—Jennifer, Rachel, Steven and Daniel (who all attended and graduated from St. Anthony’s), she started substituting and eventually joined the staff of St. Anthony School in 2000. Mrs. Flynn received her teaching credential from the CalStateTEACH program, at Fresno State. She has enjoyed teaching students from 2nd grade through 8th grade, even though her passion has been with the upper grades. Students regularly return to share their post-St. Anthony achievements. In 2011, Mrs. Flynn moved out of the classroom and became Principal. The new position has given her many exciting challenges. Under her leadership, the school received a six-year accreditation from WASC and NCEA! Besides working at St. Anthony’s, Mrs. Flynn enjoys spending time with her four children, four grandchildren and her husband of 34 years.

Mrs. Silva, CFO/Library

Mrs. Silva was born in Atwater and graduated from St. Anthony’s Elementary and Our Lady of Mercy High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State University and went on to work for Bank of America as an assistant vice president and marketing officer for 13 years. She married Michael Silva and had two children, Joey and Kt, and now a granddaughter, Maya. During that time Mrs. Silva received her teaching credential and taught at Merced Jr. College and Merced High School Independent Study. After serving as St. Anthony School Board president, Parents’ Club president and substitute teacher, Mrs. Silva accepted the position of principal from 1994 until 2010. She now oversees the Preschool, Library and the finances. St. Anthony’s has been her passion in life as her parents were also instrumental in the building and support of the school when it first opened. Mrs. Silva loves children and wants to instill in them the desire to do their best, and challenge themselves, by raising their own bar to excel and do better. And, she has witnessed many students who have done just that and are now very successful adults!

My name is Susie Henriques. I graduated from Atwater High School, Merced Jr. College and California State University, Fresno with a major in Child Development. I also received my teaching credential at CSUF. I taught for almost two years after graduation before changing career paths and working for Farmers Insurance for 32 years. I retired from Farmers in 2008 and began working at St. Anthony's that same year. I believe in the mission of the school and have seen the results of the quality academic and spiritual education that is provided. My husband and I have two daughters who graduated from St. Anthony's and were well prepared for high school and college. I truly believe that an education at St. Anthony's is a worthwhile investment in your child's future.

I was born and raised in Merced, California. I attended local schools for my elementary and middle school years in Merced. I graduated from Merced High School in 2004. My time at Merced High School was spent mainly playing on the football and basketball teams. After high school, I went to Merced College where I received my AA degree in Psychology. I then moved on to CSU Stanislaus where I received my BA in Liberal Studies in 2009. I then entered the Credential Program at CSU Stanislaus where I went on to receive my California Teaching Credential. I am currently the 7th and 8th grade teacher at St. Anthony School and this will be my 2nd year working at St. Anthony School.
