Mission Statement

The mission of St. Anthony Catholic Parish School is to inspire our students to follow Christ’s example.

The St. Anthony School community adopts a philosophy rooted in Catholic faith, love, and respect. We acknowledge that our students vary in academic ability, needs and backgrounds, and are uniquely gifted. We believe that the parents are the primary educators of their children, and that the teachers facilitate the learning process for all students.

The administration, teachers, and staff at St. Anthony School are committed to helping parents in the holistic development of each student, and strive to instill responsibility for words and actions.

In the spirit of the Gospel, St. Anthony School serves culturally diverse children from surrounding communities. We reach out to the wider community of the world, trusting in Christ who is our inspiration, teacher, and reason for being.

Retired in 1995; then returned after 911 and continued to serve until 2005. Forced to retire due to high-year tenure rule. Roger Johnson wrote: I wanted to thank you for everything St. Anthony's did for Morgan. It was a good choice for her as it is for so many others. The encouraging and nurturing environment allowed her to grow and get ready for high school. The experience with Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Henriques were exceptional. She did look forward to going to school and she trusted all the adults and the students alike. It is a friendly place that relies on outside help. Everyone who helped with volleyball and track created a great experience for her and others that can not be experienced in the classroom. She did not have the entire experience there like some who started in preschool but the other teachers did their part. There are things your staff did for my daughter that went beyond their job descriptions. I hope that the new priest takes a large role in the school and promotes it so that it can grow. After having a daughter graduate from there, it would be a shame if it does not grow and strengthen its influence on the community.

Message from the Principal

St. Anthony School had humble beginnings in 1953 when the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary arrived from England to begin a school in Atwater. Over the years, the school has gone through transformations, including opening a Preschool in 1996. When Castle Air Force Base was open, many military families attended St. Anthony School; the structure and high standard for learning, including faith formation meshed well with their military lifestyles.

An average day at St. Anthony School includes Faith (religious) Formation, Math, Language Arts, Literature, Science, Social Studies, PE, Music/Fine Arts, and Computers. We offer the extra-curricular sports of Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Track & Field, and Cheerleading. There is also Student Council (government), Choir, and Drama.

Our students endeavor to achieve all School wide Learning Expectations—being an Active Catholic, Responsible Citizen, Life Long Learner, Effective Communicator, and Critical Thinker.

Our graduates excel in high school, enrolling in Honors and AP classes and the IB (International Baccalaureate) program. St. Anthony School students continue to be successful in high school, with some graduating as Valedictorians and Salutatorians. Our students matriculate to colleges/universities including Stanford, USC, Cal Poly, Davis and other colleges in California and other states.

Though the physical presence of the founding sisters is absent, their ideals are paramount at St. Anthony School—Faith, Love of God and each other, Respect, Honor, Hard Work, Discipline and Success.

We are currently taking registration for the 2016-2017 school year. We also gladly accept tax-deductible donations.
